In this lesson, students explored the art movement, cubism, while creating a two part project. For the first part of the project, students created a cubism inspired mask using paper mache building techniques. For the second part of the project, students created an abstract painting inspired by the shapes and colors used in their mask.
In this lesson, students challenged social desensitization of overlooked objects through sculptures made from recycled materials and mixed media. Students focused on various artists that use everyday objects in their artwork, while refining their sculpting techniques.
Students investigated how our society becomes desensitized to our surroundings and how the creation of forced consciousness through large scale sculptures can attract attention to a certain topic or social issue. In this lesson, students will create plaster sculptures inspired by their favorite slice of cake or pie. Students will investigate the artist, Wayne Thiebaud and learn how he used food as his inspiration. Students will create food-inspired artworks, while focusing on the elements of arts and principles of designs.

What could be more whimsical than a hand-crafted miniature castle? Students will be investigating medieval castle architecture,terminology and function, and create their very own castle designs. In this lesson, students will be taught the slab-building technique, while focusing on the elements of art and principles of design. Students will be specifically focusing on form, line, pattern and variety as they create their own castle out of clay.
Students created their own character using ceramic sculpture in the round. Successful sculptures strongly display a mood.
To do this, the sculpture must: -Show exaggeration of features and gestures through proportion. -Have an analogous color scheme that corresponds with the given emotion. -Be constructed using the correct ceramic technique and show good craftsmanship. In this lesson, students will be introduced to Ancient Egyptian art history, while specifically focusing on the value of Canopic Jars. Students will explore the elements of art and principles of design as they use clay as their primary material. Students will be creating meaningful artwork that expresses what they value. IN THIS LESSON, STUDENTS WILL STUDY THE WORK OF STREET INSTALLATION ARTIST, MARK JENKINS. STUDENTS WILL COLLABORATIVELY WORK TOGETHER TO CAST DIFFERENT FORMS BY WRAPPING CLEAR PACKING TAPE IN REVERSE AND THEN RESEALING IT. STUDENTS WILL BE FOCUSING ON BOTH THE ELEMENTS OF ART AND PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN AS THEY CREATE INTERESTING SCULPTURES.In this lesson, students will be creating paper sculptures of a meaningful word inspired by artist Ed Ruscha. Students will draw the paper sculpture as they focus on the elements of art and some of the principles of design, and mainly focus on drawing from observation and value. |
