The Teen Arts Festival is in the books for 2016! The annual event is held every year at Union County College and welcomes middle school and high school students from the union county area. 75 OAS 7th and 8th grade students represented the school in various disciplines including fine arts, creative writing, orchestra, and chorus. Throughout the day, students have the opportunity to attend workshops to learn more about different types of arts. Below are pictures of the artwork that was represented at the event. Congratulations to Zoe T. and Charlotte M. for being selected for the county tour!

To do this, the sculpture must: -Show exaggeration of features and gestures through proportion. -Have an analogous color scheme that corresponds with the given emotion. -Be constructed using the correct ceramic technique and show good craftsmanship. In this lesson, 6th Graders focused on the element of art, space, as they continued to develop their sculpting skills. Students investigated and analyze artworks that utilize positive and negative space. In result, students then created their very own sculpture that has positive and negative space. Students had the option to create a sculpture that represented a theme or create an abstract design.
In this lesson, students will create ceramic sculptures inspired by their favorite meal. Students will explore various artists that use food as their inspiration including, Peter Anton and Shay Aaron.
