In this extra time project, Students will be creating a mosaic out of recycled materials. A mosaic is when an artist arranges many small colored pieces that reveals an image. They can be used to decorate a floor, a wall or in some cases a ceiling. Mosaics have a long history. They were created in Ancient times in Babylon, Egypt, Greece and Rome.

The Students in the art service club created snowflakes and Snow people for the OAS Choral/ INSTRUMENTAL Winter Concert. The students did an excellent job adding blue and purple watercolor to thier snowflakes and made some amazing snowmen and snowwomen!In this lesson, students will investigate the artwork of Josh Lane as he combines Ancient Egyptian Art with comic book characters. Much like how superheroes save the day, ancient Egyptians believed their Pharaohs and Gods had superpowers as well. Students will focus on color theory, art history, and symbolism as they create their own drawings of a superhero and hieroglyphics in the style of Lane’s artwork.In this lesson, students will be taught the coil-building technique, while focusing on the elements of art and principles of design. Students will be specifically focusing on form, line, pattern and variety as they create their own organic coil pots.
IN THIS LESSON STUDENTS WILL BE CREATING DRAWINGS OF THEIR SHOES INSPIRED BY VINCENT VAN GOGH’S, STILL LIFE OF SHOES. STUDENTS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO ALL THE ELEMENTS OF ART AND SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN, AND MAINLY FOCUSING ON DRAWING FROM OBSERVATION. |
