Students investigated how our society becomes desensitized to our surroundings and how the creation of forced consciousness through large scale sculptures can attract attention to a certain topic or social issue.
In this lesson, students challenged social desensitization of overlooked objects through sculptures made from recycled materials and mixed media. Students focused on various artists that use everyday objects in their artwork, while refining their sculpting techniques.

For this lesson, each student will be able to select a still life to draw with the use of multiple mediums. The students will learn about still life paintings and view many different examples by various artists. The student’s final still life should include at least 3 different types of media as students focus on the elements of arts and the principles of design.
