In this lesson, 8th graders developed their skills in observational drawing by training their eye to see what they actually see versus what they think they see. They were challenged to create a surreal "handscape" involving their hand passively or actively in an unlikely or surprising environment! Check out the stunning results!
Students were introduced to the very basics of graphic design. Students used the iPad and the apps, SketchbookX and Brushes Redux to create self portraits and animal digital paintings. The students learned what a layer is as they created their master pieces.
In this lesson, students explored the art movement, cubism, while creating a two part project. For the first part of the project, students created a cubism inspired mask using paper mache building techniques. For the second part of the project, students created an abstract painting inspired by the shapes and colors used in their mask.
In this lesson, students challenged social desensitization of overlooked objects through sculptures made from recycled materials and mixed media. Students focused on various artists that use everyday objects in their artwork, while refining their sculpting techniques.
Students investigated how our society becomes desensitized to our surroundings and how the creation of forced consciousness through large scale sculptures can attract attention to a certain topic or social issue. |
